Nektaria’s Letter from Tarifa

Hola chicas y chicos!🌊☀️
I’m Nektaria, one of the proud ambassadors of the Waverssocialclub, sharing my love for kitesurfing and adventures!
As I write this, I’m sipping a matcha latte in a sun-drenched cafe in Tarifa, with the Atlantic and Mediterranean dancing in the background.
It’s been a whirlwind of emotions these past months - October found me in Brazil, living my best kiting life with endless downwinds, epic jumps, and a heart full of joy.
But as with every adventure, there’s a twist: my kite looped during a launch and snagged on a passing vehicle (YES, cars cross the beaches there!). Before I knew it, I was dragged into a wooden pole, leaving me with a heavily injured quadricep. Yet even in that chaos, the kitesurfing community blew me away with their kindness and support. In no time, I was back on the water, pain and all, grateful to be alive and surrounded by the endless beauty of Brazil’s shores.

Fast forward to December, and I’m soaking up Tarifa’s 20-degree sun while reflecting on what kitesurfing has brought into my life: resilience, connection, and pure freedom. The past few days have been a blend of kiting, hiking, surfing, and bonding with incredible new people, all while gearing up for a fresh work adventure in January 2025!
Life is all about catching the wind where you can and living with an open heart, because as a wise friend once said, “The more you think about the wind, the more you waste it”. This applies to everything in life: take risks, book that flight, switch jobs to seek happiness, end relationships that aren’t working, and embrace the freedom to choose what truly fulfils you. Don’t overthink it - just grab your gear, hit the water, and let the ocean work its magic. The world is full of stories to create and memories to cherish, and trust me, there’s no better way to live it than with the wind at your back.
